Udupi: Kadengodlu Award presented to noted poet Vasudeva Nadig

Udupi, Aug 10, 2014: Social journalism is becoming popular as well as influential in this age when the popularity of social networking sites is making every reader as a citizen journalist, said senior journalist and Chief Minister’s media advisor Dinesh Amin Mattu.

He was delivering a special lecture at the 2014 Kadengodlu Poetry Award presentation ceremony held at the Ravindra Mantap of MGM College here on August 9, Saturday. The function was held under the joint aegis of the Rashtra Kavi Govind Pai Research Centre, MGM College, Udupi and Manipal Academy of General Education.

Continuing, Dinesh Amin Mattu also presented the dangers of  such type of social journalism which is without any accountability. This has led to misuse of social networking sites, he regretted.

Noted poet Vasudeva Nadig was presented the Kadengodlu Award on the occasion by Dinesh Amin Mattu. He bagged the award for his  anthology of poems “Ninna Dhyanada Hanathe.”

Speaking after receiving the Award, Nadig regretted the declining importance to poetry forms in media.

Dr Erya Lakshminarayana Alva, veteran writer, presided over the function Kusuma Kamath, Principal of MGM College, Kadengodlu Eshwar Bhat, son of late Kadengodlu Shanker Bhat and others were present.
