Udupi, Apr 16, 2015: In an unexpected development, Deviprasad Shetty, the Udupi District unit President of the Janata Dal (Secular) has tendered resignation to his post on April 16, Thursday. He has sent his resignation to Party Supremo HD Deve Gowda.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Shetty said he has quit from the post out of his own accord and made it clear that there was no pressure from any corner.
He also stated that he has quit after 15 years of service as District Chief of the Party and thanked all those who extended support to him.
“As District Chief of the Party I did not succeed on expected lines. Even the number of members in the party is declining,” he admitted.
He said he will continue to remain as a party member and continue to work for the cause of the public. He did not forget to add that Belapu Panchayat had turned into a model panchayat under his presidentship.
Shetty also stated that he has no plans to contest for the upcoming elections to Belapu Gram Panchayat.
