UGD workers of MCC stage protest against unsolved problems, unfulfilled demands

Mangaluru, Nov 19, 2020:    The  workers of the Underground Drainage  section of the Mangaluru City Corporation staged a protest  on November 19, Thursday  under the aegis of the Dalita Sangharsha Samithi (Ambedkar Vaada) demanding solution to several of their problems as well as fulfilment of their longstanding demands.

 

 

 

Addressing the protestors, Jagadish Pandeshwar, District Convenor of the DSS  said the workers will resort to a Vidhana Saudha Chalo agitation if their demands are not fulfilled. He said the underground drainage workers have been facing with a number of issues since the past 15 years and alleged that neither the Corporation nor the district administration has made any concerted effort to solve their problems.

He also accused the corporation officials as well as the labour department officials of adopting an apathetic approach towards the problems of the workers.

DSS leaders and several UGD workers participated in the protest. Later they submitted memorandum  to the Deputy Commissioner enlisting their demands.
