UCA organize protest in front of Kulshekar Church

Mangalore, Mar 20: The United Christian Association (UCA) organized a protest in front of the gates of Kulshekar Church, condemning the assault on Mr. Norbert Lobo, member of the UCA and gurkaar of Lourdes Ward, on March 20, Sunday.

















UCA member Vincent D’Cunha explained the circumstances leading to the assault. Reportedly, the church authorities had refused to announce the meeting of the Lourdes Ward, owing to which Mr. Lobo had made a move to announce the same after the 6:00 a.m. Sunday mass on March 13. Stating that the assault was pre-planned, he said that Mr. Lobo was attacked by Praveen Patrao, the vice president of the church, below the altar.

Mr. D’Cunha said that Evlin, a member of the Lourdes Ward, had visited the parish priest on the evening of Saturday and had requested him to announce the meeting of the ward. However, the parish priest did not announce it on the evening of Saturday.

The protestors assembled in front of the gate at 8:00 a.m., shouted slogans against Praveen Patrao, and dispersed after 9:30 a.m. after the UCA leaders delivered speeches.
