Sunil was produced before the court on June 20 Saturday night and Akshay was produced on Monday. The court has remanded judicial custody for both until July 3.

It may be recalled that Akshata a 17-year-old girl student of Government College Byndoor was allegedly murdered June 17 when she was on her way to her house. The accused had strangulated her with her shawl, dragged her to an isolated area and fled away.

Sunil’s cousin and friend, Akshay was arrested for being involved in the case and for misguiding the police.

The higher police authority had applauded the police team, which was led by Annamalai K for successfully nabbing the accused within 48 hours.
