Tulushree Award to be conferred on Macchendranath Pandeshwar

Mangalore, Aug 5, 2011 :Macchendranath Pandeshwar, the renowned film actor and dramatist, will receive the Tulunada Tulushree Award conferred by Akshara Prathishtan at Alapadav .

 

Macchendranath Pandeshwar (77) began acting on stage when he was just 14. He has to his credit 160 dramas. He has established a touring drama troupe and has fostered a large number of artists.

He has won prestigious awards such as the district Rajyotsava Award, Karnataka Nataka Academy Award, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy Award, Samskara Bharathi Award, Namma Kudla Award, and Brahmashree Award, to mention just a few. He is an active member of Tulu Dramatists’ Association, Tulu Koota, and many other social welfare and voluntary organizations.

The Tulunada Tulushree Award will be conferred on him at a function scheduled to be held at Rayee Higher Primary School on Aug 7 Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, the president of the DK District Kannada Sahitya Parishad, will confer the award on Macchendranath Pandeshwar. Sarapady Ashok Shetty, the member of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, will preside over the event.

Dayavathi S., the officer for Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP); Jagdish Koila, the president of Siddakatte Zone; and Prem Sequeira, the Taluk Panchayat member, will be the chief guests of the occasion.
