Palghat, Dec 13: Due to heavy rain and high wind velocity in Chennai area the following trains originating from Chennai Central  are cancelled on 12.12.2016.(Today) 

1.      Train No. 22637 Chennai Cental – Mangaluru West Coast Express scheduled to leave Chennai Central at 11.30 hrs. 

2.      Train No. 12695 Chennai Central – Thiruvananthapuram Central Superfast Express scheduled to leave Chennai Central at 15.25 hrs. 

3.      Train No.12685 Chennai Central – Mangaluru Superfast Express scheduled to leave Chennai Central at 17.00 hrs.

In view of cancellation of trains due to rough weather condition at Chennai and places around, Palakkad Division has opened a Help Line to update information on train operations under its jurisdiction. Passengers can reach out the help line through landline BSNL No.  0491- 255 6198


PALAKKAD DIVISION STARTED  INTRODUCING  POS MACHINES 

In view of a recent decision of Central Government to promote cashless transactions, it has been decided to install Point of Sale (PoS) machines at various locations over Indian Railways to allow transactions using debit /credit cards. State Bank of India has been mandated to install 10,000 PoS machines at various locations over Indian Railways.

Keeping pace with the move, Palakkad Division on  today (12.12.2016) introduced additional PoS machines (one each) at Kozhikode and Mangaluru Central Passenger Reservation Centers with the support of State Bank of India. These terminals are  in addition to the machines (one each), which  already functions  at these PRS centres.

Further,  PoS machines will be provided  at twenty locations over the Division - Pollachi, Palakkad Town, Palakkad Junction, Ottappalam, Shoranur, Angadippuram, Malappuram, Tirur, Feroke,  Satellite PRS Counter at Kozhikode Medical College , Wayanad, Badagara, Mahe,  Tellicherry,  Kannur, Payyannur, Kanhangad, Kasargod,   Mangaluru Junction and  Mangaluru Satellite Counter( functions near Mangluru Corporation Office)   within three days.

The scheme  will be extended to Integrated Passenger Reservation/Unreserved ticketing system counters in the next stage.
