Mangalore, September 16: The district administration has issued orders for traffic diversion along certain roads to facilitate the procession that is to take the idol of Lord Ganesha for immersion in Mahammayi Pond near Car Street on Friday after 7 p.m.

This procession will commence at Nehru Maidan and will pass AB Shetty Circle, Clock Tower, Hampankatta, KS Rao Road, Navbharath Circle, Dongerekery, New Chitra Junction, Balaji Theatre, and Car Street before ending at Mahammayi pond.


Before the procession commences, traffic will be diverted from UP Mallya Road, Hampanakatte, Muthappa Gaudi, and Nehru Circle, depending on the size of the crowd. All traffic from Hamilton Circle and SPs office moving toward AB Shetty Circle will be diverted.


After 5:30 p.m., all vehicles moving toward State Bank will be diverted to the right from Clock Tower. Traffic from Mangaladevi will be diverted via Nehru Circle, while Route No. 16 buses should take the Nellikai Road before returning to Hamilton Circle.


When the procession reaches RTO office, traffic from Muttappa Gaudi to UP Mallya Road and Town Hall will be diverted. Vehicles moving from Balmatta to State Bank should turn back at Milagres and Route No. 27 buses will have to return from Anand Shetty Circle.


Vehicles are not to be parked on either sides of the road taken by the procession. When the procession reaches UP Mallya Road from AB Shetty Circle, traffic from Hampankatta to UP Mallya Road, Muttappa Gaudi to UP Mallya Road, and Central Market Road to Clock Tower, and Mohini Vilas Road will not be allowed.


People who wish to participate in the procession or view it should park their vehicles on one side of Old Kent Road, Rosario Road, Pandeshwar Road, and Port Road.
