Tourist spots in DK to begin guided tours soon - Minister Deshapande

Mangaluru, Nov 22, 2015: Tourism Minister RV Deshapande brought good news for Dakshina Kannada district. Replying to a question posed by MLC Ivan D’souza, Deshpande said that tourism in the district would be developed on the lines of various other tourist spots in the state.


DeshpandeHe stated that the Karnataka Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) has been planning to introduce city tours as in several other places in the state to encourage tourists to visit the district and go around with ease.


Places like Bengaluru, Mysuru, Madikeri and Hospet have been developed and the same would be done in the district.


The tour plans to cover the following places: Suratkal, Panambur, Ullal, Someshwar, Kateel, Moodbidri, Tannir Bavi, Pilikula, Dharmasthala, Venoor, Jamalabad Fort, Subrahmanya, Bendru Theertha, Uppinangady and Shiradi.

The minister informed that the department plans were underway and would soon become a reality and added that recommendations for simplification of Coastal Regulatory Zone norms were sent to the Union government.

Plans were also made to train 40 tourist guides through Mangalore University. Authorities have also been encouraging surfing at Panambur beach as part of adventure tourism. Hopefully tourism here will take a better shape soon.
