Top scorers of annual diocesan catechism exam felicitated

Mangalore, Mar 6: Mangala Jyothi, the Mangalore Diocesan biblical, catechetical, and liturgical centre, felicitated the top scorers of the SSL Diocesan Catechism Examination 2010 – 11 at St. Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Hall in Bendore on March 6, Sunday.

July Pinto, lecturer of St. Aloysius College, spoke on the topic “Christian Family’s Sanctification of Jesus Christ” on the morning of Sunday.

Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza was the main celebrant of the Holy Mass, with Fr. Herald Menezes, Fr. Lawrence Mendonca, Fr. Vincent Monteiro, Fr. Vijay Victor Lobo, Fr. Boniface Pinto, and Fr. Peter Noronha, and other priests of St. Sebastian Church, Bendore concelebrating. 

 









The bishop also presided over the felicitation programme and honored all the top scorers of the SSLC Diocesan Catechism Examination. Fr. Peter distributed copies of the Holy Bible among all the top scorers.

Speaking of the importance of catechism, the bishop said that it gives children a good start in life and enable them to face the tough challenges of life in future. He also urged parents to pray together in their homes.

The chief guest of the event, Richard Alvares, a graduate assistant of St. Raymond High School, Vamanjoor said that catechism is the foundation to a good Christian life, which will help children over difficulties in future and live peaceful lives. 

The welcome address was delivered by Fr. Boniface Pinto, the director of Mangala Jyothi; Anil Monteiro proposed the vote of thanks; and Irene Sequeira was the MC.
