Tibetans celebrate their 52nd anniversary with peace rally

Mangalore, Mar 10: The Tibetans organized a peace rally in Mangalore in observance of their 52nd anniversary on March 1, Thursday.

The Tibetans are keeping alive their feelings of nationalism with the help of slogans such as Long Live HH the Dalai Lama, China Out of Tibet, and Tibet is Independent.

The Tibetan Youth Congress has used this occasion to declare to the world in general and to China in particular that they will use these slogans not only to keep the Tibetan spirit alive, but also to restore independence for their country.

Ironically, the Dalai Lama has decided to step down even as several Tibetans across the country celebrated this day. Tibetans in their thousands had surrounded the palace of the Dalai Lama to prevent him from leaving on this day. They had gathered after the spread of a rumor that Chinese communists were planning to arrest the Dalai Lama when he went to attend a cultural performance at the PLAs headquarters. This was the start of the Tibetan uprising.
