Mangaluru, Jan 15, 2015: Thousands of faithful gathered at the Infant Jesus Shrine at Carmel Hill, Bikarnakatte for the annual feast on January 14, Wednesday. Bishop of Bareilly, Dr Ignatius D’Souza celebrated a solemn mass as part of the annual feast.
The Bareilly Bishop in his homily while regretting that people have forgotten about the spirit of sacrifice, exhorted youngsters to respect and take care of their parents. Deploring domestic disputes which are dragged to courts, the Bishop said there is a greater need to understand each other in the family share happiness as well as pain and also solve all problems in a peaceful manner.
Prominent among those who were present for the Mass were Fr Ellias D’Souza, Director of Infant Jesus Shrine, Fr Charles Serrao, Provincial of Karnataka-Goa province, Fr Pius James D’Souza, Superior of the community, Fr Antony Barnabas Monis, Assistant Rector, Fr Melwin D’counha, Parish Priest of Bajjodi and Fr Antony Serrao, Parish Priest of Bendore.
Oscar Fernandes, former union minister and Roy Castelino, President of Konkani Sahitya Academy were also present.
The Novena held at the shrine prior to the feast was attended among others my MLA JR Lobo and MLC Ivan D’Souza. Earlier a blood donation camp was also conducted.
