Mangaluru, Dec 29,2015 : MLC Ivan D’Souza has informed that Home Minister G Parameshwara has on December 17 regularised the services of as many as 217 inspectors who were serving as DySPs on a temporary basis.
Speaking to reporters here on December 28, Monday, he said as many as 300 inspectors were temporarily promoted to the rank of DySP since the past seven to eight years, mainly with the objective of enabling them to deal with cases pertaining to corruption, women and SC/STs. As per Rule No 32 of KCSR only police officers of the rank of DySP and above can investigate such cases. The officers have been temporarily serving as SPs mainly owing to the rule that only an officer who has underwent special training for two years can be elevated to the rank of DySP, Ivan stated.
"The officers thus promoted to a temporary post also face problems during retirement as they would retire as just an inspector and not DySP," Ivan pointed out. He had drawn the attention of the government to this issue recently. Consequent upon this, the Home Ministry had decided to permanently promote the inspectors concerned.
