Mangalore, March 31: Lalitha Kala Sangha and University College jointly organized Talents Day at the auditorium of University College at Hampankatta, Mangalore, on March 31, Wednesday. The event included a prize distribution ceremony, during which prizes were given away to the winners of various competitions held in February and March.

Mime artist Ramdas, who is known for his mimicry performances, was the chief guest of the event. Ramdas is also a Tulu singer, lyricist, music composer, and manager of the V4 Channel. In his speech, he urged the youth to participate in extra curricular activities, which will not only help them develop their talents, but will also help them in their career. He said that talented persons must utilize their talents as well as the opportunities around, while maintaining their individuality.



Recalling the early days of his career, he said that he would imitate others; but when he realized that he was losing his own identity in the process, he corrected himself and began developing his own style.


Principal of University College Dr. H R Lakshmi Narayan Bhat, said in his presidential address that maintaining individuality is of great importance; otherwise one might lose one’s artistic tendencies.


President of Lalitha Kala Sangha Parvathi Appaiah urged students to overcome fear and explore their talents. She explained that fear prevents many students from exploring their own talents. She encouraged students to utilize every opportunity they might get to participate in cultural events.


Director of Lalitha Kala Sangha Ramakrishna said that participation helps individuals to utilize their talents; and that is why participation is of great importance.


Ramya, the secretary of Lalitha Kala Sangha, delivered the valedictory speech; and Ramakrishna compered the event.
