Mangaluru, Feb 7, 2017: Spear headed by Ramakrishna Mission for the eighteenth week, 4 venues got cleanliness drives, 203 to 206 of the planned  400 Abhiyans were successful in Mangaluru, on Sunday, the 5 th February at 10 different spots again. Th significant details are :

203 Karangalpady – The Locaites, Auto drivers and so on, took up the cleanliness drive in Karangalpady junction; C J Kamath Road. Swami Jitakamanandaji of Ramakrishna Mission flagged off the drive. Sri M R Vasudev divided 60 members into 2 teams and guided them in the cleanliness work. Local residents cleaned the C J Kamath road; Auto drivers cleaned the Karangalapdy junction; and market under the  leadership of Sri K V Sathyanarayana. Kudpi Vidya Shenoy,  Lilly Pinto, Dr Anasuya and several others, women, especially housewives actively participated in the drive.

204 Yemmekere – NSS students of KPT took up the cleanliness work in KPT area. Swami Ekagamyanandaji, convener of the Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan,  Santosh Kumar P, NSS Officer jointly flagged off the drive. Students were divided into three teams under the guidance of Sri Suraj P, Lecturer, KPT. First team  cleaned the KPT circle, while the second team removed the weeds and grass that covered the compound and front of KPT. Third team cleaned Airport road. Sri Rajendra DS, Sri Jithesh,  Pratiksha and several of the students voluntarily participated in the drive.

205 Jeppu – The Inmates of Bhagini Samaj with local residents carried out the cleanliness drive in Jeppu market area. Sri Sudhamani, industrialist , Teacher  Gracy Roach jointly flagged off the drive. Volunteers under the guidance of  Vijayalakshmi cleaned the Jeppu Market circle, Morgan’s Gate; area in front of Bhagaini Samaja. Volunteers under Rathna Alva visited about 350 houses distributing handbills on hygiene and sanitation. The compound walls near Bhagini Samaj have been cleaned of all the posters stuck on it and white washed. In coming weeks art work about hygiene and message carrying Swacch Mangaluru will figure on the walls. Suresh Shetty coordinated the team.

 206 Kotekar – Members of Sri Ayyappa Bhajana Mandira carried out drive in Kotekar junction. Guruswamy, Lingappa Gatty,  Ravishankar, Members of Someshwara Taluk Panchayat flagged off the  drive. Kotekar junction and the bus shelter in the area were thouroughly cleaned. Jithendra  coordinated the volunteers.

Swacch Puttur – Abdul Khader, Director of Children Rights Group,  Lecturer Harini Putturaya flagged off the Swacch Puttur drive in Bolwar area. All the three roads of Boluwara were cleaned.  Adjoining drains were cleared and open drains were closed with concrete slabs. Padmanabha Prabhu,  Shivaprasad Bhat along with more than 85 volunteers actively participated in the drive. Srikrishna Upadhyaya, Shyam Sudarshan Bhat coordinated the drive.

Special Work – On successful completion of 200 drives of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan, the work of  painting and beautifying the wall stretching from Hampankatta signal to Clock tower, along Wenlock, University College, more than 1000 feet long is being carried out. In association with Aditattwa Arts; painting of walls with beautiful art is going on since last 3 days by  Vikram Shetty, Shailesh Kotian and more than 25 artists of Mahalasa School of Arts. The compound walls were washed, cleaned, white washed and is being beautified with painting depicting the rich cultural heritage of Dakshina Kannada region along with messages of Swacch

MRPL; Nitte Education Trust are patronizing this phase of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan.
