Mangaluru, Aug 10, 2015: It may be recalled it was reported that Sundara Malekudiya, a resident of Neriya village near Belthangady, was reportedly attacked by Gopalakrishna Gowda using a weed-cutting machine. He was seriously injured in an attack on July 26 and was being treated at Govt Wenlock Hospital in the city, has been moved to A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment of stomach cancer and for his injury as per agreement.
Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader visited him on August 6, Malekudiya had expressed his wish to move to A.J. Hospital where he was getting treatment for cancer under the Rajiv Gandhi Aarogya Bhagya Health Scheme. Minister Khader had asked Wenlock Hospital Superintendent Dr. Rajeshwari Devi to work out an arrangement with the A.J. Hospital to ensure that the treatment for both could go on simultaneously at one place.
Medical Director of A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences Dr. Prashanth Marla said an oncologist was attending to Malekudiya. Wenlock Superintendent said he was moved from Wenlock Hospital to A.J. Hospital on Aug 8, Saturday.
A team of doctors at Wenlock Hospital led by Ghanashyam Kamat, the head of Orthopaedic Unit, and Jagannath, surgeon, who carried out an operation on him for his injuries, would be in touch with specialists at A.J. Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Belthangady police are yet to trace the whereabouts of the attacker Gopala Gowda. They have arrested Gowda’s wife Pushpalata.
