Mangaluru, Feb 11, 2016: Yuva Brigade  leader  Chakravarthy Sulibele drew sharp reactions from Muslim leaders when he  while participating in a symposium   on `Madarasa System in Secular Society’ organised by the Sunni Jamiyyatul Muslimeen claimed that  the Muslim community did not develop  after independence as it relied on the  medieval Madarasa education and neglected modern education.

Sulibele also stated that the Hindu community  progressed on a faster pace after independence owing to modern education. He also urged the Muslims to  shun medieval thoughts.

Sunni cleric Abdurrasheed Saqafi Zaini Kaamil who  later in his address while referring to  Sulibele’s remarks said  those who make baseless allegations should first read the Madarasa text books.

NKM Shafi Sa’adi, Member of Karnataka State Wakf Board stressed the need to allay misconceptions regarding Madarasa education. ’’Madarasas try to kindle the spirit of patriotism," he said adding  several freedom fighters  whom India had seen had studied in Madarasas.

State Health and Family   Welfare Minister UT Khader, K Ashraf, Founder of United Muslim Association and former mayor and others were present.
