Sulia: Youth who tried to rape minor girl caught red handed; trashed by public

Sulia, May 30, 2015: A youth who tried to rape a minor girl was caught red handed by public and was trashed near Ammai in Sulia Taluk.

The accused has been identified as Krishna from Mayyala in Delampady village.

The minor girl had come to her grandfather’s place in Ammai and was returning back on Thursday evening. Krishna took her to a privately-owned plantation nearby.

The locals alleged that the accused had attempted to rape her when they caught him red-handed.

Babu, a local villager noticed a bag lying on the road when he was passing near the Ammai Bridge. Hearing a girl’s cry he entered the plantation along with Krishna Maniyani who had accompanied him.

When Krishna realized two men entering the plantation, he escaped from the spot and was later caught by the locals hiding in the plantation.

The girl whimpered that the accused dragged her and tried to rape her.

The locals trashed the accused and handed him to the police. A case has been registered in Sulia police station.
