Mangaluru, June 04, 2016: Recently ’Mangalore Today’ had reported about Armaan, student of sixth semester (B.Tech.) of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at MIT, Manipal Institute of Technology. He has now received an entry into the Guinness World Records, by creating the world’s longest selfie stick here.
Young Armaan had created the longest selfie stick measuring 10.39 metres, which he had demonstrated on the MIT grounds here on April 11. He had taken the selfie of authorities of the MIT and others on that day.
Armaan broke the previous Guinness World Record holder for the world’s longest stick held by Ben Stiller (U.S.) for his selfie stick which measured 8.56 metres. Stiller made this record at the premiere of “Zoolander No. 2” in London, U.K., on February 4, 2016.
Armaan said that he got the Guinness World Record certificate from London by courier on May 30. “I am delighted that I have made this record. I was expecting the certificate,” he said.
Arman is not resting on the laurels he has achieved. In fact, he is ambitious and wants to create another record. “I am planning to break this record by constructing a 12-metre long selfie stick either in July or August,” he said. Armaan, son of Mohmed Soorinje and Rehana from Mangaluru, is also a member of the student team “Formula Manipal” of MIT, which designs the formula racing car.
