Student drowns in quarry pit in Malavoor

Mangaluru, July 16, 2018: A sixteen year old boy Sanjay Kumar who was a PUC  student at Kateel college drowned in a stone quarry pit at Jari near Gundavupadavu in Malavoor GP limits, while having a bath on July 15, Sunday morning.

Sanjay KumarSanjay had left home in the morning saying he has to visit a friend and had later  ventured into the water with his friend Ranjith who worked as a welder at Kinnipadavu.

It is said both did not know swimming.  When Sanjay who first entered the water  drowned, Ranjith cried for help.

A local resident who was washing his bike nearby alerted other locals. Though Sanjay was pulled out of the water and rushed to the hospital, he breathed his last enroute. 

Sanjay’s mother Savithri is a junior assistant at Bajpe PHC while his father Ellappa is a driver.
