Sunil Kumar Bajal, the secretary of the CPI (M), said that the street vendors have been fighting for justice for the past 3 months, in spite of which the MCC and the state government have chosen to ignore them. All the meetings held with Mayor Praveen Anchan and MCC Commissioner Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash have turned out to be a waste of time because they have not kept their promise of making alternative arrangements for street vendors, he added.

Speaking further on the issue, he said that majority of the street vendors are Muslims, who have to go on fast during Ramzan while simultaneously working for their livelihood. He urged the MCC to make alternative arrangements for the street vendors and to quit sending the Civic Tiger after them till proper arrangements have been made.
