Stranger attacks woman, decamps with jewellery worth lakhs

Mangaluru, Oct 26 2017:  In a shocking case of daylight robbery, a stranger  grievously attacked  a woman and robbed jewellery worth several lakhs  from her house at Kolnad near Mulki on October 25, Wednesday.

 

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when the woman Sharada Shetty, wife of Prabhaker Shetty was alone in her house. It is said the stranger who entered the house  on the  pretext  of verifying whether the electricity bill has been paid, all of a sudden hit Sharada Shetty on her head, snatched the chain which she was wearing and escaped with other gold ornaments in the house. It is learnt the jewellery was meant for the wedding of Sharada’s daughter.

The assailant  was wearing blue shirt and  bue jeans pant. The suspicion was that he escaped with an accomplice who was waiting on a bike on the Highway.

Senior Police officials have visited the spot and are conducting the investigation.
