Mangaluru, July  8,2017:  Stone pelting incidents have been reported  near Melkar and B C Road just as the  vehicle carrying the mortal remains of RSS activist Sharath Madivala  passed  that way  towards Kandur in Sajipamunnur. Crowds began to pelt stones  with shops also targeted. As the situation grew further tense following altercation, police resorted to lathi charge to disperse the mob. It has been reliably gathered that one person was  seriously injured in the  incident.

The procession carrying the body of the  RSS activist Sharath began from the AJ Hospital where  he was undergoing treatment for the past few days ever since he was injured in a brutal attack last week. Hundreds of Hindu activists with black flags tied to their vehicles participated in the procession.

A large contingent of police personnel have been deployed  along the procession route while in Bantwal CRPF personnel have also been pressed into service.

All shops and business establishments have remained closed following the tense situation prevailing in the area.
