Unique layout: The church was being built in a unique layout with a dome on top.  The height of the dome is 42 feet high with a diameter of 36 feet.

The statue was built at Simon & Co. in Mangaluru. It has been built with all season glass fibre material. Reinforced with  clay and iron rods.   Then the fibre material was added and the required shape was moulded to provide it a longer life span.  Rev. Roque D’Souza, parish priest, in coordination with Lawrence D’Sa, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council, Secretary Michael D’Souza and Convener Melvin Noronha have put in their efforts for the successful completion of the project along with the members of Building Core Committee and the parishioners and workers.   The Church will be inaugurated on April 28.

History:  The old church on this spot, demolished in 2014, was first built by Mgr. Raymond F C Mascarenhas ( 1875-1960)  in around 1913 when he was it’s Vicar. Mgr Mascarenhas is now the first local Mangalorean to be put on the path to saint hood by the church and the long process is moving on. Mgr Raymond it must be mentioned is the first founder parish priest of Bendur in Mangaluru, 1914 to 1921.  He is also the founder of the Bethany order of nuns (founded 1921) who are not only spread all over India but also in Africa and Europe.
