Mangaluru, April 7, 2015: Top police brace in the city welcomed Om Prakash, Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG & IGP) of the State with traditional police band and guard of honour here on Tuesday morning April 7.
A 1981 batch IPS officer, Om Prakash assumed the charge of State police chief last month and this his maiden visit to coastal city of Mangaluru as DGP&IGP of the state.
He had been served in the district as Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP) Puttur sub division when he joined Karnataka police department.
Western Range IGP Amrit Paul, Managaluru City Police Commissioner S.Murugan, DCP Suresh Babu, Superindent of Police of Dakshina Kannada Dr.Sharanappa along with several other senior police officers and IPS probationers received DGP Om Prakash.
The DGP reviewed the functioning of District police and City Police Commissionerate and held meeting with police officials attended by all sub divisional officers including Assistant commissioners under city police. Most of the senior officials briefed progress in crime detection and action taken by them during the time of Law and Order situations through power point presentations.
DGP Om Prakash will also visit Udupi district today evening.
