State Beary Academy to organize Pernal Sandola on September 8

Mangalore, Sep 3, 2012 : Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy will organize Pernal Sandola on September 8 in Town Hall and will launch the Beary Folk Rally on September 9, as part of its cultural awareness program.

Announcing the above at a press conference held today, Rahim Uchil, president of the academy, said that Pernal Sandola will be a mega cultural program, which will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. An assembly meeting will be held on the same day at 4:30 p.m., which will be inaugurated by MLC Monappa Bhandary.

The chief guests of the event will be Gulzar Banu, mayor of Mangalore; MLA U. T. Khader; N. B. Aboobakker, chairman of the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation; Umanath A. Kotian, president of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy; Ghulam Mohammed, president of the Udupi district JD (S); and Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad.

N. K. M. Shafi Saadi, member of the Karnataka State Wakf Board, will deliver the Pernal Sandola message.

Yogish Bhat, deputy speaker of the State Legislative Assembly, will flag off the Beary Sandal, the Beary folk rally on September 9, at 8:30 a.m. In Bantwal, MLA B. Ramanath Rai will inaugurate the rally at 9:30 a.m., followed by a half-hour meeting, with Dinesh Bhandary presiding.

The rally will then proceed to 10 locations in Bantwal, and this will be held on the second and third Sundays for the next four months, during which the rally will visit various parts of Karnataka such as Shimoga, Hassan, Udupi, Belur, Sakleshpur, and Bangalore. The rally aims to preserve Beary literature and culture by reaching out to people in different villages.

Mr. Uchil also said that the academy dreams of installing a Beary Peeta in Mangalore University, where Beary language and culture can be properly researched. Besides, the academy is planning to hold a Vishwa Beary Sahitya Sammelana at Teerthahalli in Shimoga next year, he announced.
