St. Joseph’s Engineering College inaugurates technical fest Tiara 7

Mangalore, Oct 20, 2011: The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers at St. Joseph’s Engineering College in Vamanjoor inaugurated Tiara 7, a 4-day technical fest, at the college’s Fr. Fred Memorial Hall today.

Prof. T. Narayan Shanbhaug of Canara Engineering College, who inaugurated the event, said that classroom experiences do not lead to knowledge regarding the practical world, but events such as technical fests help students gain knowledge regarding the latest technology.

A number of colleges will participate in this 4-day event, which will comprise technical presentations, non-technical events, debates, cultural events, and others. The college has been organizing this festival for the past 7 years.

Fr. Valerian D’Souza, the director, was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. He said that academicians and industry representatives come together during the technical fest with the common purpose of human welfare.

Henry Mascarenhas, the assistant director; Dr. Joseph Gonsalves, the principal; Prajwal D’Souza, the branch counselor; and Fr. Joseph Lobo were the dignitaries on the dais.
