St Aloysius Institutions in City to get new Rector

Mangaluru, September 13, 2020: Two individual communications from principal, St Aloysius College Mangaluru  and Loyola Mandir, Bangalore,  officially state,  Rev Fr. Melwin Joseph Pinto (Sr)  SJ,  has been appointed as the new Rector of the prestigious  group of institutions of St.Aloysius, Mangalore, by the Rev Jesuit General in Rome. In place of  Rev. Fr. Dionysius Vaz SJ., appointed Jesuit Provincial Karnataka.

Fr. Melwin, Hailing from Kadri/Bendur in the city, is a well known personality in the educational arena of this region, born December 1963 and ordained in April 1997.  He has held several responsible multifaceted responsibilities hitherto, which led to his choice to the joy of all people of the area.  Rev Fr Pinto expressly has requested prayers from all.

He is a highly educated and erudite priest with a compassionate, simple and pleasant personality appreciated everywhere he served.  His early admired assignment was to establish St Joseph Indian Composite PU College, Bangalore as founder principal 1999-2007. A very significant service was 2012 to 2017 as Section Head at Vatican Radio. His last assignment in the city was as Director, Fatima Retreat House, Jeppu 2017-2019. Since then he has been in Trivandrum working on youth matters.

The news has gladened the community and students at large at this critical time of Corona Pandemic.  Rev Fr.Melwin is expected to assume office soon and a welcome awaits him too.
