Mangalore, Mar 19: The MSW department of St. Aloysius College celebrated its 10th anniversary in the college’s IT Hall on March 19, Saturday.

The chief guest was State Higher Education Minister Dr. V. S. Acharya. In his address, he spoke on the importance of social welfare activities and said that imbalance and inequality in society can be corrected by inculcating social ethics. He also lauded the MSW department for successfully completing 10 years. He also released the souvenir.

Fr. Francis Serrao, the provincial of Karnataka Province, said in his presidential address that the MSW syllabus should be modified every year because it is a very unique course. He also warned against the collapse of secularism and democracy in the nation. 
 
Fr. Joseph Rodrigues, the rector of St. Aloysius Institutions, and Dr. Joseph Wilson Lobo, the director of the International Office of Christ University in Bangalore, were the guests of honor. In his address, Fr. Rodrigues urged students to take field work serious.

A new cell called Anti Addiction Activities was inaugurated and Dr. Olinda Pereira and Upendra Hosabettu were honored in recognition of their social welfare activities on the occasion.

Fr. Swebert D’Silva, the principal of St. Aloysius College, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Lourduswamy, the vice principal, and Nataraj Urs, the joint director of the department of collegiate education in Mangalore, were also present. 
 
Prof Loveena, the HOD of the MSW department; Shwetha Rasquinha, Prof. Gerald D’Silva, Dr. Sandeep K., Pearl Barboza, Bharathi K., and MSW students participated in the celebrations.
