Mangalore, Dec 25, 2011: Delivering the inaugural address after inaugurating Shrinivas Institute of Medical Science and Research and Shrinivas Hospital established by the A. Sharma Rao Foundation in Suratkal today, D. V. Sadananda Gowda, the chief minister of Karnataka, said that the twin districts have contributed greatly to health, banking, and education. 


Stating that the newly inaugurated Shrinivas Institute of Medical Science and Research is the seventh medical college in DK, the chief minister said that no other Indian state has so many medical colleges. He further stated that this district has contributed more to the overall development of India without any government assistance. He also acknowledged the role played by distinguished individuals such as Shivaram Karanth, T. M. A. Pai, and others to the development of banking, education, and healthcare in the districts.

The CM concluded his inaugural address by congratulating A. Sharma Rao Foundation for establishing a new medical institution in the district and urged all education institutions to provide topnotch education. 


V. S. Acharya, the minister for higher education and muzrai; Vishweshwara Teertha Swamiji, the seer of Pejawar Mutt; and Dr. Shriprakash K. S., the vice chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore also spoke on the occasion. 


A. Sharma Rao Foundation President A. Raghavendra Rao presided and Vice President Shrinivas Rao delivered the welcome address. 


District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar, AICC Secretary Vinay Kumar Sorake, Dean and Medical Director Dr. C. V. Raghuveer, MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik, and many others were also present.
