Mangaluru, Nov 05, 2018: The Shree Gokarnanatha Temple at Kudroli which attracted a sea of devotees during the recent Mangalore Dasara celebrations, on November, 4 Sunday evening saw a large number of enthusiasts at the Temple premises watching with awe and amaze the splendid array of colourful Goodu Deepas in varied colours and shapes that added a Sparkle to the Diwali celebrations. The event was the annual Goodu Deepa contest organised by Namma Kudla, the popular local TV channel.
A host of Goodu Deepas along with replicas of Kudroli and Shabarimala temples, a palanquin, replicas of Goddess Sharada, Ganesha also attracted the attention of the gathering.
Former minister J Krishna Palemar inaugurated the contest and appreciated the organisers of the event.
HS Sairam, President of the Temple Development Committee presided over the function. Padmaraj Karkera, Treasurer, Committee Members Madhava Suvarna, Harish Karkera, Dr B G Suvarna, Dr Anasuya Salian and others were present.
The event was conducted in three categories namely traditional, modern and unique. A variety of cultural programmes were also held to mark the occasion.
