Mangalore, Sep 30: SpiceJet Limited, the most preferred budget airline of India, introduced commercial flights between Hyderabad and Mangalore with its brand new Q-400 aircraft. It is the first airline to introduce a flight on this route.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference held at Hotel Gateway on September 30 Friday, Samyukth Shridharan, the chief commercial officer of SpiceJet Limited, said that the first Hyderabad – Mangalore flight arrived at Mangalore Airport at 2:40 p.m. with the inaugural flight taking off at 3:00 p.m.
SpiceJet will operate daily Mangalore – Hyderabad routes, he said, adding that Mangalore is the second city in Karnataka, after Bangalore, which is now connected via SpiceJet’s state-of-the-art Q-400 aircraft.
SpiceJet has also announced a direct flight between Mangalore and Chennai from Nov 9, with bookings on the Mangalore – Chennai sector already available at the inaugural fare of Rs. 1,400 for limited seats.
SpiceJet has already commenced operations with its brand new Q-400 aircraft fleet, which was launched on September 21, in Hyderabad – Goa, Hyderabad – Madurai, Hyderabad – Vijayawada, Hyderabad – Rajahmundry, Vizag – Tirupathi, and Vizag – Bangalore routes and will add many more routes in future. Operations along Hyderabad – Auragbad route commences tomorrow.
Each Q-400 aircraft can hold 78 passengers, and SpiceJet has ordered 30 of these aircrafts, of which 5 have already been delivered in September.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Raja Vaidhayanathan, the vice president (commercial) of SpiceJet, said that SpiceJet launched 9 new destinations in 12 days with the assistance of Mangalore Airport Director M. R. Vasudev. He further said that Hotel Gateway will offer a package to passengers with 0 percent discount.
