Sorake orders officials to complete Varahi project

Udupi, Oct 10, 2014: Speaking at a review meet, Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake has said that sufficient measures were taken to overcome the problems pertaining to Varahi irrigation project, which is proposed to release water by December end.

He discussed the problems of Varahi project, the minister directed that various department involved in the project should come together in order to hasten the construction works and to enable the release of water as scheduled. The chief engineer has been appointed and other employees in engineering section were recruited as well. He added that the work should be carried out meticulously in order to release water by December end. He directed officials to execute the land acquisition process at earliest.

Sorake asked the Udupi DC Pattanna Shetty to hold review meet every month to assess the progress of the work. The Revenue, Forest Department officials should work in accordance with each other to carry out the project work quickly and flawlessly. The work should get completed within the stipulated time, he urged.
