The Bishop Mangaluru  Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, as per custom was the chief celebrant at the Rosario Cathedral which is the mother church of Mangaluru.  At 7 pm sharp parish people began singing carols and children enacted the birth of Christ very attractively. Carols were sung in Konkani, Kannada and Malayalam until 7.55pm brightening the mood.

At 8 pm the Mass commenced with the Bishop and concelebrants entering at the main ceremonial door to the alter. The traditional mass in Konkani, the main language of the diocese was arranged in a beautiful manner with the choir leading the singing and people participating with enthusiasm.

In his homily the Bishop was articulate about the gracefulness of C’mas and it’s everlasting meaning to human kind.  In these times of doubt and confusion the renewal of Christmas spirit is very welcome he said. He went on to say that Christ came as a Babe born in a humble manger in the midst of animals and shepherds in lowliness. But, today HE is seen all over the world as God and accepted by millions since 2000 years. This divine babe wants for his people of all kinds everywhere true blessings and not just outer  well being or ego. Bible scripture are His teachings and we must know what he says from the Bible. He proved he came to befriend humans of all kinds and save us from from all slavery and make us heirs to heaven. He gave His life on the cross to set us free and make humans His heirs.

The mass was concelebrated by with the Vicar General  rev Denis Moras Prabhu, Rosario Parish priest Rev J B Crasta and other parish priests Rev Rocky, Rev Paul, Rev Vincent. After the mass a brief get together was held to encourage mutual exchanging of Greetings and fellowship in the Christmas spirit.
