Mangaluru, Dec 11, 2017: The sixth week’s drive of  Swachata Abhiyan led by Ramakrishna Mission went ahead December 10 2017.  Sri Vinayraj, MCC Corporator , Sri Sunil Shetty, President of  Jeppu Bunts’ Association in the presence of Swami Jitakamanandaji at Jyoti Circle and Balmatta  Main Road. Sri Vinayraj addressed the gathering and appreciated the initiative. Several others were present on the occasion and joined the Swamiji with broom to clean the area. More than 200 volunteers actively participated in the drive.

Cleanliness Drive:  200 volunteers were divided into 6 groups. Members of Jeppu Bunts’  Association cleaned the area from KMC hospital to Collectors Gate along with the footpaths, road dividers. Students of St. Aloysius College under the guidance of Lecturer Smt. Premalatha Shetty cleaned both sides of the road from Jyoti circle to Light House hill. Sri Vittaldas Prabhu and Sri Shubhoday Alva led a group of volunteers each in cleaning the roads leading from Jyoti  Circle to Hampankatta area along with the adjoining places. Heaps of sand on the Balmatta  road were removed with the help of JCB and the place was levelled creating space for parking  of vehicles. More than 3 tippers of sand, stones and dirt were cleared.

Beautification: A triangular area near Jyoti circle, seen filled with garbage and dirt. Members of  Hindu Warriors removed this heap and have done a minor repair of the road. The steps used by  the pedestrians were worn out and needed repair. Using labourers, these steps have been set right.  Sri BHV Prasad, GGM of MRPL actively volunteered in this drive, MRPL is sponsoring these efforts. Another group of  volunteers painted the bus shelter and the railings by the side of the road. Sri Sujith Pratap and  others cleaned the footpath and the bus shelter in the Jyoti area and painted the railings giving
them a face lift.  

Awareness Drive: A team of volunteers visited shops and urged the shopkeepers to keep their  surroundings clean. While the cleanliness drive was on, a person threw garbage in the cleaned  area and the volunteers got the place cleaned by him. More than 200 illegal flex banners buntings were removed from the light poles in the road dividers. Sri Souraj led the group of  volunteers. Students of St. Aloysius college visited nearly 200 households in the area and
distributed awareness literature and urged them to keep their surroundings clean.  Drive went on from 7.30 am till 10 am. Members of Yuvashakti Yuvaka Sangha of  Kayarthadka village participated in the drive. All the volunteers were provided tiffin in the  premises of Balmatta Women’s College. Sri Dilraj Alva Sri Umanath Kotekar coordinated the
6 th week’s cleanliness drive.

Swacch Puttur Phase 2: Second phase of Swacch Puttur, guided by Ramakrishna Mission,  was flagged off by Town municipal member Sri Rajesh Bannur and Sri Pulu Ishwara Bhat. Smt.  Johar Nissar  many others were present. Sri Krishna Upadhyaya welcomed the gathering. Sri  Shyam Sudarshan Bhat, G Krishna coordinated the programme. Cleanliness drive was carried out in mini Vidhana Soudha area.

The Ramakrishna mission have set weekend in cleaning the city . but the public have to appreciate it. We have to take up the task seriously and co operate to maintain the same
