Mangaluru, Sep 07, 2019: Sindhu B Roopesh took charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district on September 7, Saturday. The new DC assumed office after the erstwhile Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil quit his post as well as the administrative service on September 6 citing personal reasons.
The new DC was accorded a warm welcome by Additional DC Roopa, Assistant Commissioner Ravichandra Naik and Tahsildar Guruprasad.
Sindhu is the second woman to be the Deputy Commissioner of the district. Earlier in 1989 Ranjani Shreekumar was the first lady Deputy Commissioner of undivided Dakshina Kannada district.
Sindhu happens to the 129th DC of the district. For the first time the district has women as DC and Additional DC.
Speaking after taking charge, the new DC said she was happy to be the Deputy Commissioner of the district known for its intelligent populace. She also highlighted the need of active co-operation of the public for the successful functioning of the administration.
