Shops selling essential commodities will be open between 6 am and 12 noon: Sindhu B Rupesh

Mangaluru, March 24, 2020:  The district administration in its efforts to contain the outbreak of Covid-19, ordered all shops and establishments selling essential commodities like milk to remain open between 6 am to 12 pm from Tuesday till March 31. Sale of milk, vegetables, fruits, grocery, meat, fish will be allowed.

The shops selling essential commodities to the public should close down after 12 pm, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh declared on Monday evening. Autorickshaws and taxis should not ferry passengers and should be utilised during emergencies, for transportation of essential commodities among others.

The deputy commissioner also ordered the shutting down of industries. Only those industries involved in the production of essential commodities, medicines, medical instruments, medicine, fuel, farm produce among others had been exempted from closing down the industries, the press release added.

The prohibitory orders will be enforced strictly from Tuesday onwards, stated the press release.
