Shirva origin nurse dies in Saudi Arabia

Udupi, July 28, 2018: A nurse from Kuthyaru near Shirva who was employed at a hospital in Saudi Arabia, died under mysterious circumstances.

The deceased has been identified as Hazel Jothsna Quadros(28), wife of Ashwin Mathias from Kuthyaru.

Jothsna was working at the Al-Mikwa General Hospital run by the government of Saudi Arabia for the past six years.

It is gathered that Jothsna last spoke to her husband on July 19. Two days later, her co-worker informed Ashwin about her death. However, Ashwin has no information regarding his wife’s death nor the reason behind it.

Ashwin has reportedly contacted MLC Ivan D’Souza and Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat and seeked their help.

It has been gathered that, both Ivan D’Souza and Raghupathi Bhat have contacted External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for her intervention in the case and Swaraj assured to contact the Saudi Arabia government in this regard.
Further official information from the MEA is awaited.
