Mangaluru: July 5, 2015: Shirthady in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district recorded maximum rainfall of 67.5mm in the last 24-hours up to 8.30am on July 5. Rupanagudi hobli in Ballari taluk of Ballari district recorded maximum temperature of 40.8°C at 2pm on July 4. Javali hobli in Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru district recorded lowest minimum temperature of 18.5°C from at 5am on July 5, G S Srinivasa Reddy, director, KSNDMC stated.


Rain


More than 90% relative humidity has been recorded in 46% geographical area in the state. Less than 25% of relative humidity has been recorded in 0.6% geographical area in the state. Rainfall over the state is considered as isolated since 7% of hoblis and gram panchayats recorded rainfall of =2.5mm. Rather heavy rain was recorded in four gram panchayats; moderate rain in 134 gram panchayats; light rain in 112 gram panchayats; very light rain in 287 gram panchayats; and no rainfall in remaining 4,402 GPs across the state.


Karnataka for period from June 29 to July 5 recorded 76% deficit rainfall. Against normal weighted average rainfall of 65mm in south-interior, north-interior, malnad and coastal parts, state recorded rainfall of 15.8mm. For 24-hours period ending 8.30am on July 5, four geographical regions received 0.8mm actual weighted average rainfall against normal weighted average rainfall of 9.4mm, a 92% deficit departure from weighted-average normal.
