Mangaluru, Nov 01, 2016 : The second phase work on the Shiradi Ghat 13 km stretch connecting Bengaluru to Mangaluru is likely to be closed for reparir works after November 15. The meeting with district authorities and the officials of National Highway Authority of India, Public Works Department and others was conducted at the DC Office on November 01 , Tuesday.

As part of the phase two works, the ghat road will be closed for traffic the heavy vehicles be directed through the alternate roads once the roads are widened. Shiradi Ghat is the main link between coastal Karnataka and the hinterland. Shutting the road creates problem for thousands of people travelling on this road. The experts along with Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jagadeesha will be visiting Shiradi ghat to inspect the roads and come to a conclusion if one side of the road can be let out for traffic while the other will be repaired. The repair of critical sections of the stretch however will render the road closed for a maximum of  a month period. .A major public inconvenience if the road would be completely shut as it is the shortest route for Mangaluru to Bengaluru. Complete shutdown of this road and diversion of traffic will increase the distance and duration too.

District In charge minister Ramanath Rai , DC jagadeesha , SP Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, ADC Kumar, DHO Dr Ramakrishna and others were present.
