Shiradi Ghat accident causes traffic chaos and delays

Mangaluru, July 2, 2017: According to the police head-on collision between an LPG tanker and a car in Polliottu on Shiradi Ghat resulted in traffic pileup for nearly three hours on the stretch on July 1, Saturday.

The incident occurred near Polliottu after the tanker which was moving towards Bengaluru from Mangaluru collided head on with the car moving towards Dharmasthala. Five car passengers, were reported injured and were shifted to a nearby hospital with the help of passers-by.

The accident occurred at a time tourist buses from Bengaluru were coming down to Mangaluru. This led to heavy traffic pileup of 2-3 hours. Many said they were supposed to reach destinations early morning but it was passed 9 am when they could reach.

Soon after the accident, police personnel from Nelyadi Outpost rushed to the spot and cleared the pile-up. A case has been registered at Uppinangady police station, such incidents are on the rise due to bad road attitude and negligence.
