Sharp shooter arrested in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Feb 05, 2017 : Following a tip off from Belagavi police, the police in Mangaluru have arrested a sharpshooter identified as Laundry Ganesh Shetty (35) of Bejai. He was arrested near Baikampady and is said to be an accomplice of notorious underworld don Ravi Poojary.

The arrest followed the nabbing of six sharp shooters in Belagavi on the charges of hatching a plot to eliminate some influential people and also conspiring to help a criminal named Dinesh Shetty who is lodged in the Hindalaga jail to escape. Dinesh is an accused in Mangaluru advocate Naushad Kashimji murder case. The ploy was to help Dinesh escape when he would be taken for admission to the District Hospital on the pretext of treatment.

The accused were also wanted in connection with the case of looting an areca trader of cash worth Rs 5 lakhs, cheque books and four mobile phones. The incident had occurred when the trader Abdul Khader was heading towards Guttigar in his car along with his workers Shafique Abdul and Basavaraj.
