Seva Dal, Kannada Sahitya Parishat celebrate Gandhi Jayanthi

Mangaluru, Oct 2,2017 : Gandhi Jayanthi, the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation was celebrated  here on October 2 by the Rashtriya Seva Dal and Kannada Sahitya Parishad.

Addressing a function held in this connection,  J R Lobo, MLA of Mangaluru South exhorted people to follow Gandhian ideals. Pointing out that only  students participate in  such celebrations, the MLA said there was a need for elders too to evince interest  in attending such programmes.

 

 

 

 

The  teachings and message of Gandhiji are relevant at all times, Lobo and  added that Gandhi Jayanthi is not just an observance, but a day when the people  of the nation have to pledge to incorporate Gandhian ideals  in one’s lives.

 

Civic worker and Gandhian Rudrappa was honoured on the occasion.  Bashir Baikampady, District Committee President of Bharatiya Seva Dal, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, District President of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Kumar, Additional DC, Guruprasad, Tahsildar and others were present.

Prior to the function, students participated in a procession from Ambedkar Circle and later paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding his statue.
