Seminar on women’s entrepreneurship held at Kanara Chamber

Mangalore, July 7, 2011: The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Corporation Bank organized a seminar on entrepreneurship for women, titled “Stride 2011 – women entrepreneurship – opportunities for women in service and trading enterprise,” in the KCCI premises today.

Ramanath Pradeep, the chairman and managing director of Corporation Bank, Mangalore headquarters, inaugurated the event. The organizers say that the purpose of the seminar is to encourage women entrepreneurs.

Speaking about the significance of the topic, Corporation Bank GM B. N. Shenoy said that the bank offers loans to women entrepreneurs in the small enterprises section and that the bank will offer a loan-linked savings bank account for working women.

The resource persons were Madhura Chatrapathy, the founder of the Association for Women Entrepreneurs of Karnataka, based in Bangalore; Shridharan of the Asian Centre for Entrepreneurial Initiatives; and Sunanda Eswaran, the dean for entrepreneurship and research, WE School in Bangalore.

KCCI President G. G. Mohandas Prabhu and Vice President Latha R. Kini were also present.
