seemanth Kumar SinghMangalore, April 27: Seemanth Kumar Singh has been posted as the police commissioner of Mangalore. The officer, who was initially the superintendent of police of Bellary, was promoted to the rank of deputy inspector general of police before being posted as the police commissioner of Mangalore. 


On April 26, Monday, the state government transferred 16 senior IPS officers and promoted two. Seemanth, who is known as Bellary Reddy’s man, was serving in Bellary before being promoted to the post of DIG and was waiting to be posted for the last 3 months.


The new police commissioner knows the district very well, having served in DK as the superintendent of police from Dec 2000 to Feb 2004 and gaining the distinction of the SP who held the longest service in the district. When he was the superintendent, he had shown extraordinary ability in handing law and order situation, particularly during the communal riots. Later, he was transferred and posted as the deputy commissioner of police at the headquarters in Bangalore.


Gopal B Hosur, who was the inspector general of police (western range) and the in-charge police commissioner, has been transferred without any post. Bipin Gopal Krishna, the additional director general of police (prisons) (ADGP) has been posted as the ADGP (internal security) in Bangalore.
