Mangalore, April 16, 2014 : City Police Commissioner and in-charge IGP of Western Range R Hithendra has said that special security arrangements are in place in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi-Chikmagalur and Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituencies which are among the 28 constituencies in the state which will go for polls on April 17.
Addressing press persons at the Mangalore Police Commissionerate on April 15, Tuesday, he said there are 158 Naxal affected polling stations in the three constituencies. Apart from that 417 polling stations have been identified as hyper sensitive, 1279 as sensitive polling stations. Security arrangements would be made in these stations under the leadership of SP.
District Superintendent of Police Dr Sharanappa has informed that there are 62 Naxal affected areas in DK constituency limits, 112 hyper sensitive booths and 227 sensitive booths of the total 954 booths.
Apart from the police officials and personnel from the district, four DySPs, 14 inspectors, 29 Sis, 50 ASIs, 498 Head constables/police constables and 308 Home Guards from other states will be on duty. One BSF company, KLSAP, KSRP battalions and SAP from Maharashtra will be on duty.Four additional KSRP battalions will be posted in Naxal affected areas, he said.
