SP P Rajendra Prasad informed media, that the accused, Sudhir is suspended following his involvement in another crime, with the charges of IPC, 324, 504 and 506. The recent case of blackmailing and extortion was registered against him in Udupi town police station on Sept 1, by Munir Ahmed, who alleges that the suspended PC was blackmailing him with the threat of publishing the nude and obscene pictures of his daughter.

The SP said Sudhir and the nephew of the complainant, Shamil, are the accused in the case. Munir Ahmed received a call from the accused Sudhir, asking him to meet him at Udupi police station.

The complainant along with Shamil met the accused, who revealed him that he and the Bangalore and Delhi police have at their posession the nude pictures of his daughter. Sudhir alleged that Munir Ahmed had been running a prostitution racket and further he would publish the obscene photos of his daughter. If at all, Rs 30 lakh given to him, he would refrain from publishing the obscene pictures.

The complainant said he is incapable of offering such a huge amount. The accused then pretended as making a call to someone, and finally settled the deal for Rs 25 lakh. The complainant paid the ransom in two installments on April 11 and 19 as Rs two lakh and Rs 23 lakh respectively. Once Ahmed realised that the plan was a conspiracy hatched with the help of Shamil, he threatened his nephew that he would register a case and go to media, following which, Shamil returned the amount on August 21, on the condition that the complaint should not be registered against him. But, Ahmed proceeded with the complaint and a case was registered on September 1.
