Mr. D’Souza said that, according to the ECCE, teachers are required to interact with the child in their mother tongues. However, children can be exposed to regional and national languages as well as given exposure to oral English since they have a natural ability to learn many languages.

Dr. William D’Silva, social scientist, and Vishalaxmi, secretary of the District Anganwadi Workers’ Association, also addressed the gathering.
