Mangaluru, May 17, 2016: DK Dakshina Kannada, boasts of securing third position in the State, but the Central Model Koraga Residential School at Madhya in Surathkal has secured zero per cent result in the SSLC examinations.
This is the only school for Koraga community members in Dakshina Kannada. Out of the five students who appeared for the examination, none of the students could clear the exam.
Social Welfare Officer Santhosh Kumar told media that maximum efforts were made by the Department for the children to excel in their studies. Shortage of teachers in the school was sorted out, but, we could not get the expected results. We will prepare the children for the supplementary examination in the month of June. Special attention will be paid for the Mathematics and Science subjects, which these five kids find tough. A reorientation programme will be organised to overcome examination fear in them. The school has no shortage of teachers, but the children need to be motivated to excel."
