Mangaluru, Oct 14, 2020: Non-availability of sand has forced the Mangaluru Civil Contractors’ Association to take to the path of protest. On October 14, Wednesday members of the Association staged a protest in front of the Mini Vidhana Saudha.
Speaking on the occasion, Association Vice President Mahabala Kottari said the construction industry was hit hard due to non-availability of sand since the past 12 months. There is no clear-cut policy, he alleged and said sand from non-CRZ areas which are provided is not useful for the construction works. He said sand which ought to cost Rs 6000 was sold for as high as 20,000 at present.
